Dell 720 Photo Printer with Vista and Windows 7

This a post that caters to a specific audience, but it will be very helpful, because it’s an issue I have had to resolve recently. I have since moved on to another printer, but this remains a valuable resource for all those looking for it. Let me know if I was able to assist you using the comments below! =)

I have an Asus EEEPC 1005HA running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit and a custom-built desktop that is running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit.

I also have an older Dell 720 photo printer that I still have several unused ink cartridges for. The printer has always been great and I wanted to use it with my newer versions of Windows. Unfortunately, Dell doesn’t openly support vista and 7 usage of this older printer. Nevertheless, I found the files needed to run the printer on both systems, and it works perfectly!

Procedure:

Download the Vista 32bit or 64 bit driver from the official Dell support website.

The Vista 32bit works with ALL versions of 32bit VISTA and WINDOWS 7! The Vista 64bit driver works with ALL versions of 64bit VISTA and WINDOWS 7!

Install the file and follow the onscreen prompts! Now you can use your old but trusty printer with your new and shiny Windows OS!

Hope this helps! Let me know in the comments below if you have anything to add!

  1. I was looking out for articles about this on Google and came upon your article. I found it to be really useful. Thanks

    • No problem. I made the article because I too couldn’t find the solution. I finally found it buried deep in google’s search results, even deeper in some obscure tech forum’s archives.
